Produce on a Budget

I am going to really start watching produce prices--visiting many local farmer's markets/produce stands. Readers tipped me off on an ad that's in today's paper for Rick's Produce(pg 3, green ad). Rick's Produce is just one of the fruit and veggie stands that I will be paying a visit to this week. I plan to take advantage of some of the deals listed below. Remember you could also use the ad to price match at WalMart.

Cabbage 3lbs/$1

Yellow, Red, Green Peppers 2/$1*

Celery $0.79/stalk*

5 lb bag of potatoes $0.69 a bag

Broccoli or Cauliflower $0.89 each

10 lb bag of Russett potatoes $0.99/bag

3 lb bag of yellow onions $0.89/bag

*Part of the dirty dozen. If budget allows consider buying these organic. The Dirty Dozen are the fruits and veggies with the highest concentration of pesticide residue.
