10 TIPS FOR BUILDING A STOCKPILE:
1. The concept is simple. Buy sale items that your family will use and buy enough of that item to last until at least the next sales cycle. (Most items are on cycle)
2. You will spend more in the beginning building your stockpile. When I first started building my stockpile, my grocery bills were between $20-$55 a week. Now I am maintaining the stockpile, buying sale items when I am running low. And my spending is less than $30 a week. So now instead of buying 15 bottles of BBQ sauce, I buy 3-4 just to maintain.
3. Building a stockpile takes time. Took me weeks!
4. Get more than one set of coupon inserts. I get a minimum of 4 sets a week. That way I have at least 4 coupons to use on sale items that I can stockpile.
5. Be prepared for your shopping trip. Always be armed with your list of sale items and coupons. Know what you do and do not need.
6. Check the expiration date on items that you are stockpiling. You want to be able to use what you have before the expiration date.
7. Learn to shop CVS and WALGREENS for toiletry items(razor, toothpaste, etc...) This is where I got started!
8. Find a place to organize and store your stockpile. (It's like your own mini store.)
9. Understand that your stockpile may contain different brands of one item. For example, I have JIF and Skippy peanut butter stockpiled. I am not brand loyal.
10. The true benefit is that I have saved A LOT of money on items that we need and use daily. Rarely am I just plain out of something! Works for me. Hopefully, this will help you too!
